Dementia Action Week 2026
Events planned for Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire
As part of Dementia Action Week (18 – 24 May 2026), a series of special events will be held across West Wales, offering the opportunity to experience the Dementia Experience Bus, attend Admiral Nurse presentations, and access information from local organisations supporting people living with dementia and unpaid carers.
You can book sessions for the Dementia Experience Bus and/or the Admiral Nurse presentations in Carmarthen, Aberaeron or Haverfordwest on the 19th, 20th or 21st May. Full details of dates and locations for each event are listed below.
The Dementia Experience Bus
The Dementia Experience Bus is a specially designed, immersive training environment that helps participants understand what it may feel like to live with dementia.
Through interactive activities, the session demonstrates practical changes that can help make a difference to the lives of people living with dementia, whether at home, in the community, or in professional environments.
Who is it for?
- Unpaid carers
- Family members
- Community members
- Professionals working in health, care, or public services
Please be aware:
- The experience may be emotionally challenging for some participants
- Support will be available throughout the session if needed.
- Staff will share practical tips on how to support people with dementia in a kind and effective way.
- Advance booking is essential as spaces are strictly limited
- Each session lasts 3 hours and participants are asked to attend the full session.
Session Details:
- Morning: 10:00am – 1:00pm
- Afternoon: 1:30pm – 4:30pm
Admiral Nurse Presentations
Alongside the Dementia Bus Experience, Admiral Nurses, who are specialist dementia nurses and support unpaid carers, will deliver a 45‑minute presentation covering the following:
- A better understanding of dementia
- Increased awareness of the challenges of caring for someone with dementia, including physical health and behaviours
- Ways to look after your own wellbeing as an unpaid carer
- Improved understanding of sources of support available locally and nationally
- Awareness of the dementia wellbeing pathway including the Admiral Nurse service
- An opportunity to ask questions
Admiral Nurses will also be available throughout the day at each location to offer free, expert support to unpaid carers.

Admiral Nurse Presentations
In addition to the bookable sessions, a range of organisations who support people living with dementia and unpaid carers will be available from 10:00am to 4:30pm at each location.
If you are unable to book and attend the Dementia Experience Bus or the Admiral Nurse presentation, you are still very welcome to come along on the day to speak with the organisations and access information and support.
